The Latest Progress in Crochet Projects

Wee! Alrighty, to recap the last week in projects... 

Here's the latest project I've finished 

with a few of my friends star wars dudes he let me make for him.

and yet a third project that is in the "yarn" stage... where I've selected the colors, but haven't started hooking it just yet.
So for the moment, the yarn sits there... and taunts me... LOL

To be Zombie creations SOON - Muha!

The labels on the colors are for my friend who requested 12 inch tall zombie dolls like the one I made a while ago. I had to do be resourceful and reach out to a few ravelry friends to find Sami's hair color to match the Zombie I'd made a while back as requested. 

Here is my model. :)

Flamingo Hat Progress

My coworker has struck again ! :) Her flamingo passion has crossed streams with the my creativity and here is the progress so far!

I worked up the hat today complete with ear flaps. I still have a bit of detailing to do but I wanted to share what I have so far. ^-^ I love how the pattern has been going so far - I have a good feeling I'll be sharing more hat pattern progresses (not a word ;)) with you in the near future - the whole time working this one up I  had visions of flowers, bows and scalloped edgings dancing through my head! Oh my! ;) As you can tell by the lighting I worked on this throughout the day. Oye Vey :) ;)

Polar Bear Amigurumi Ornament Progress

Whew! Okay - where did the last 4 days go?! I was able to put together 4 Mr. Snow Ornaments and just finished the head of the Polar Bear  (scarf to be added soon :))

With any luck and a lot of patience and (perseverance ;)) I should have many more to share soon! :)

Baby Cocoon - Sneak Peek!

I hope (I hope I hope!) to have pictures taken of the full baby cocoon tomorrow and a finalized pattern for it by this weekend sometime - that would really put some wind in my sails! :) That would totally give me some added "oomph" for starting my next custom order....  crocheted baby safe ornaments! :)

Viking Hat gets an Upgrade for a Baby...

Dats right! What? I mean why not? :) If ever someone should don a I'm-gonna-kick-yer-butt viking hat why shouldn't it be a baby? :) In all fairness he's over 6 months old okay? I'm sure he can hold his own ;).

Hahaha :) Joking aside I'm really excited about this project. It came to me as a custom order and I'm writing up the pattern as I go. Mad skillz I know right? ;) The hat is a mix of knit and crochet. Its true I struggled through the main part of the hat, just setting up the base, the canvas if you will... when it comes to making the decreases needed for the crown of a hat, how many wedges you create as you decrease matters! It can really alter the look... so it took me a few tries and much grumbling... I think I had too much coffee ;P and when I'm not seeing progress I wonder just how long is a project really going to take me... more grumble cakes... oye vey... but I did it! I finished the base of the hat, then knit the "plate" and crocheted the "rivets" and sewed them on. I had to make up an ewok that was ordered earlier last week so this is where the project lies. I plan on adding some kick ass horns sometime this week with furry cuffs (oh yes ;)) and will update as I can.

U900 Ukulele Duo in the making

Last weekend I made headway on the body of the bear with all appendages and such :). Though this pattern has a new added element of felt shapes that will need to be part of the pattern so people can make the expressions as well :). I've taken to Microsoft paint for now to recreate the shapes but I have yet to tackle the shape of the jackets for them. That is something I will hope to accomplish this weekend. Pinterest is serving to be a blessing and a curse this with so many inspiring posts but its such a time sucker at the moment too! I check out a board and before I know it 15 - 20 minutes have passed! Needless to say in an effort to finish the patterns this weekend I will be fasting from Pinterest. Here are a few pictures of U900's bear as it progressed through last weekend. I look forward to sharing more pics as the creations come to fruition. :)

Collar Necklaces so far...

I've been busy training for a 10k with my sister and a friend of hers though I'm not signed up for a race I've been following their racing schedule which has kept me off my butt and away from crafting. This post feels like its a long time coming - 3 collar necklaces about 95% done. Both the black and feathered necklaces are reversible, all 3 need their center piece added which I am hoping I will get to this week. I hope you like the pictures - happy to be sharing the progress! :)

P.S. The pink one is made out of velvet... what a pain in the butt to work with that fabric! LOL it's slippery and even when pinned does not lay correctly. I'm glad I did not know this ahead of time because quite frankly I think velvet as a necklace is awesome. :) Be warned though, if you attempt to sew with it it acts like a wet noodle - very elusive even when you stab it with a fork!

Man, I feel like I haven't blogged in a while, I suppose there hasn't been anything significant to share. I recently tried to make another potholder but make it wider than the last one and ended up with a very ruffled pot holder. No bueno and no way would I be okay with selling it. So I pulled out the yarn on the pot holders ( really don't like half finished projects sitting around )... and what a bummer - I was looking for an "easy" project before getting back into writing patterns. You know, a kind of mental break.

Ah wells :) - meanwhile I've gotten a few custom order requests... one being for a collar necklace and I get the creative rights to it! Yay! :) LOL all my coworker said was that she wanted it light pink. This is the same coworker I made the flamingo for so when I saw the black pink/teal peacock feather fabric I had I was pretty excited about having the option to use it! And then I found a bit of pink velvet fabric (oh joy! :)) All tolled, in the end I will probably make 3 - 5 collars and see how it goes, allow my coworker to have the pick of the litter and list the rest in the shop.

Amigurumi Flamingo is done!

I just couldn't wait till tomorrow to get pictures of this cutie in "natural light" so I did what I could through the photo editor and may update the pics at a later date. But she is done! I'm so pleased with how she turned out! Initially when I was working her up I had started at what is now the bum thinking I would use it as the head.  I later realized that the body would need to be much bigger in comparison, and since I was trying to keep this little one at 4 - 6 inches tall I decided the head shall be a bum! :) lol She does measure in at 6 inches! :) 

This flamingo was originally ordered by a co-worker of mine who loves flamingos. She has an assortment of flamingos adorning her desk, from fluffy flamingos, to furry flamingos, to a metal flamingo that is a lawn ornament. Yes, this is on her desk :). At any rate, this flamingos color scheme matches that of the lawn ornament she has on her desk. I consider this, the "mini me" version. 

 

Flamingo has movable legs and wings as well as a movable neck. A plastic coated wire was inserted inside the length of the neck to sturdy it for a more realistic look and to add a posing options. 

I tried to replicate the color scheme of this flamingo here - yes, the lawn ornament : ) 

Alright, well that about does it for me for one weekend, I dare say I'm spent! But my custom orders are all caught up for the time being so that lets me focus on polishing up my patterns until someone comes a calling for other knit or crocheted goodies ^-^. Flamingo Amigurumi Pattern is well on its way!

The body of this flamingo just got finished today :) I'll shared more pictures later... details about the patterns  pattern testing to follow too! For now enjoy the sneak peek :) Happy to be sharing :)

Teddy Bear Progress...

yes indeed! :) I'm onto making some arms and legs. I plan on googling crocheted arms and legs to get an idea of the shape I want. My first inclination is to make the appendages tiny near the body and wider near the hands and feet area but we'll see how this plays out :)

I needed some instant gratification today before getting back to the bear so I worked on this hat (albiet late for this years St. Patrick's Day) and also made a listing for the pattern. So while I won't have the bunny done today at least I finished a few things I wanted to :) I hope you like how the bear is progressing and these pics of the lil leprechaun hat! :) 

Sweet Teddy Bear Face...

...that's what I'd say I've got! (Though you might argue it could pass as a bunny face as well ^_^)

I'm well on my way to working up a teddy bear pattern that serves a dual purpose of

1 - Creating a teddy bear for a friends niece as requested
2 - Creating a pattern for others to make their very own adorable teddy as I go :)

Needless to say I am very excited about this project! I first went to my hook and yarn, started working up the head and a few rows into it I started thinking aloud all the head shape possibilities... maybe I should sketch it... oh but I want to just MAKE it already :). Of course my sister having been present for my musings said "Just sketch it." :) It didn't take but 5 minutes to put pen to paper for a quick visual and then I went back to work. Now that the head is done, I have to say I'm really pleased with how it turned out - quite close to the sketch I worked up too! I'm such a visual person that in order for me to make something well I need to see a 3-D picture and hold that image in my mind, it helps me navigate the increases and decreases to shape my work.

This was fun! I only hope I have a bit of time to get back to the teddy this weekend, though right now the forecast looks like painting the house trim and running around running errands for friends. At least the time in the car will have me thinking on ways to put the teddy together... at present I'm entertaining the idea of a jointed teddy with vintage buttons... this may be on my 2nd teddy though... we shall see! :) Yay for possibilities! Chocolate chip cookies and... Chewy?

Yep! I made some chocolate chip cookies tonight since we all needed a lil something for dessert AND I managed to finish Mr. Chewy!

The Viking Hat in progress

I've been working on some other projects this week alongside the hat and horns :) I've discovered I need to invest some $ in a camera because my phone as a camera, well, sucks :s. So my apologies for the crap photos, I aspire for better!! :) And will get a camera that takes clear decent photos.

Here is the hat and the 1st horn. The horn is not yet finished, it will be slightly curved and attached to the hat but I first want to complete both horns and then curve them at the same time for a better chance of consistency :)

What I'm working on for the Hubs :)

The Mister has been asking for this awesome knitted viking hat & beard for a few months now... between etsy and ravelry I was able to find a pattern for the hat at Mamachee's etsy shop :).

I must add that I learned a new stitch in the process :) fpdc = front post double crochet ☺ Learning new things makes me so happy!!♥

I've had to add some extra width to the hat pattern only because my mister has quite a huge melon on him. Which is also why I haven't bought the viking hat and mustache set from someone else. I'm happy to do this of course after he said he'll wear it "all the time" :)lol - we'll see.;) But I love watching his face light up when he sees I'm working on it :) I'll keep you posted :D.

only the beard will be a Chestnut heather :) by lions brand wool ease :)



Since my mister is somewhat of a red head, he's got some burgundy going on... so jealous ;) but I'd rather admire it on him though than have it for my hair ;D I love my mister :)

Bomb-Omb in the process

Geeks & Nerds unite! To come up with adorable "real life" (tee hee) replicas of their favorite characters on the gaming screen!

Okay, so it's not a worldwide effort and while no one is really uniting to do this (lol) :D A friend of mine who proudly vouches for being a nerd said I should bring this guy into our reality... and so I am. :D

I'll be so glad to have them finished :) I'm always happy to do custom orders but they can be really time consuming (like REALLY time consuming). There is no pattern that I 'm aware of online for this duo so I had to make them FROM SCRATCH :p.

Alright, alright, so a few pictures, albeit rough ones... :) remember they are without their metal jackets... but they will have them before long! :D

Amigurumi Bobblehead of Fallout 3

Oh yes, this was a custom order! A brilliant one I might add! How many husbands out there play this game and wish the Bobblehead were real?? Well my friends, this lil beaut is the kind he can take to bed and remember what it's like to be a kid! :D Or... have at his desk as a conversation piece - the skies the limit really :). Bobblehead stands from top of his hair to the heel of his boots - 7 inches tall. Bobblehead is complete with safety eyes and everything else is thread or poly filled! Your husband or boyfriend is wondering why you haven't purchased him yet... ;)

So that was my sales pitch :) and here he is....

Minus the first pic of course as that's the real deal plastic bobble head I was going for. I am my selves worst critic its true, I think his eyes should be oval, his smile more horizontal - his blue legs longer and his black boots a bit shorter, oh yes and his head more of a sphere than an oval. Le sigh... all things tolled, making this man out of thin air and going to town with a thread and a hook, it's pretty impressive. :) I thought I was finished with him last night when my husband informed me that he needs to have a stand - that's part of the bobble head, and he's right. I don't play the game so I didn't know. It was a bummer to hear that though - in that I wanted to be done with him - I'd spent all Sunday working on this guy (and honestly my fingers are sore) so to ask me to keep going when I thought I was done was really a taller order than anything else.

So do stay tuned - he will rightfully have his stand and I will post pics. :)
